Saku Maristo is a Helsinki-based keyboardist and musical director for SANNI. He has also performed with other top artists in Finland, including Robin Packalen, Saara Aalto, and Kasmir.
We chatted with Saku on how he uses the Prophet Rev2 in his music.
What made you choose the Rev2?
“The Rev2 is a great fit for SANNI’s modern pop music. It can be very subtle or in-your-face. The OLED screen, built-in effects and 16-voice polyphony make it a versatile and powerful synth for live use.”
How are you using it?
“I’m using my Rev2 alongside a Korg Kronos 2 when performing live. They complement each other well and it’s a joy to jump over to the Rev2 and get really hands-on with the sounds.”
What’s one of your favorite things about it?
“I love the sound of the Rev2. The presets are thoughtfully crafted to provide you with useful sounds out of the box and with patches that entice you to dig deeper into the synth.”
What does it give you that other synths might not?
“The Rev2 has a wealth of features that make it really fun to play and a breeze to use live. Overall, the Rev2 is an inspiring instrument that’ll serve you well in a wide array of situations and push you to better your programming chops.”
Any interesting Rev2 tricks or techniques you’d like to share?
“If you’re working with a stack, you might want to have both A and B layers active when you recall a program. You can include this information in your patch by enabling the Save Edit B setting in the Global menu.”
