Compact and Powerful 5-voice Polysynth

A legend within reach

In 1978, the Prophet-5 revolutionized music, transforming the relationship between artists and their instruments. Today, Take 5 brings this iconic sound to everyone – not just the professionals. This powerful yet affordable instrument is the perfect introduction to the legendary synth sound that started it all, now enhanced with all the features and amenities modern synthesists expect.

a woman plays the Take 5 on her coffee table while tweaking the top panel knobs.

The Take 5 has a warm tone that is full of character and substance. With its analog oscillators and filter, Take 5 brings that classic Prophet-5 sound into the modern age and makes it accessible to even more musicians around the world.

The analog oscillators are rich and full, forming the foundation of Take 5’s sound. And with the variable shape knob, the traditional wave shapes (sine, saw and pulse) can now transform dynamically, creating a variety of modern timbres.

Take 5’s smooth and creamy 4-pole resonant lowpass filter traces its 100% analog lineage directly back to the legendary Prophet-5. It’s perfect for punchy, round basses and can sculpt any sound with precision.

Take 5 delivers smooth, classic tones and adds modern features like versatile and varied modulations, along with great sounding digital effects. It’s the perfect fusion of timeless analog warmth and contemporary sound design.

You’ll go places

With 44-full-size keys in its compact frame, Take 5 travels from studio to stage without breaking a sweat. But you don’t have to sacrifice functionality or power for a more convenient size – the Take 5’s panel offers immediate access to its most essential controls, while its ingenious Low Split feature provides a wider playable range by splitting the keyboard into separate octave zones.

Where power meets play

Take 5 is an easy on-ramp to subtractive synthesis, with everything you need to get started right at your fingertips. It’s simple to learn yet powerful enough to grow with you. Don’t let its size deceive you – with modern modulations, effects, and many more powerful soundshaping tools, Take 5 allows you to create exceptional sounds even while supporting effortless exploration.

Overdrive

A closeup of the Take 5 Overdrive knob

The Overdrive effect is great for adding harmonic complexity and an aggressive edge to sounds. Just turn it up and listen to the Take 5 growl.

Wheels

The Pitch and Mod wheels are within easy reach, perfect for enhancing your performance. Reassign Mod to control filters, envelopes, digital effects parameters and more, for wild, custom performance effects.

LFO 1 & LFO 2

LFOs breathe life into synth voices. The Take 5 synthesizer offers both a global LFO and per-voice LFOs, allowing you to choose between overall effects and unique variations for each voice. With a diverse range of shapes and modulation targets, you have extensive flexibility to uniquely craft each sound.

Glide & Unison

Closeup of the glide and unison controls

Glide slides from one note to the next, like a fretless instrument, giving your performance an organic feel – and some very creative results when combined with the arpeggiator!

Get the dense, powerful sound of stacking all 5 voices on a single note with Unison – great for when it’s time to go big.

Transpose & Low Split

Closeup of the Transpose and Low Split controls

Transpose can shift the keyboard in octaves, allowing you to play your sounds across higher or lower note ranges, while Low Split lets you make a range of keys sound an octave or two lower. This lets you create massive, spread-out chord voicings across Take 5’s compact keyboard.

Modulation

a closeup of the modulation section

Modulation can be complex, but it’s the key to the power of analog synthesis. Thankfully, Take 5 keeps it simple: hold the source or destination buttons and turn a control to create a mod that shapes your sound. There are 19 sources and 54 destinations – and thousands of possibilities.

Analog Oscillators

Closeup of the oscillator section

Take 5 features two analog, voltage-controlled oscillators and a sub-oscillator, evoking the iconic tone of the Prophet-5. Using the shape knob, you can seamlessly transition between classic oscillator waveshapes, resulting in a wide variety of rich and dynamic timbres.

Display

Browse the 256 factory presets through this crisp OLED display. You can also access even deeper synthesis features that don’t appear on the panel.

Mixer

The Mixer section allows you to set the levels of the various sound generators on the Take 5, including oscillators 1 and 2, the sub-oscillator, and the noise generator. It’s like blending colors to create the perfect hue – the balance of each source will shape the final sound you hear.

Clock

Enhance your performances by synchronizing the arpeggiator, sequencer, LFOs, and effects to the same rhythm. You can also use the Clock section to keep your Take 5 in perfect step with your other gear or tap the tempo to lock-in instantly with other live musicians.

Arpeggiator & Sequencer

Generate chord-based patterns with the Arpeggiator, enhancing your music with inspiring and sometimes surprising results.

Or build creative sequences one step at a time in the Sequencer. Then explore new performance ideas by playing along with them and transposing on the fly.

Analog Filter

With two modern digital effects per program, you can quickly enhance your timbres. Combine a classic device emulation (including various delays, chorus, flanging, ring modulation, Lo-Fi, and more), with a dedicated reverb to really sweeten your sound.

Envelopes
